Dental veneers

Dental veneers are special ceramic tiles used in dentistry during an aesthetic smile treatment to improve the appearance of damaged teeth, and for that reason are generally known as dental veneers.+
Dental veneers have a thickness varying between 0.5 and 0.7 mm and are placed on the outer surface of the tooth, using a specific type of cement.

The dentist will take a teeth impression and later a special dental laboratory will prepare dental veneers in ceramic substrates in accordance with the specific aesthetic parameters or requirements of the patients.

Why undergo dental veneers treatment

  • Correct any eventual dental malformations,
  • Reduce the distance between the teeth
  • Fix those teeth that have been damaged and broken,
  • Improve the colour of yellowed teeth

Dental veneers made of ceramics in that way allow achieving of high quality results, by improving the shape and colour of the tooth and by ensuring each patient the ability to finally show their smile again.

Teeth whitening

In the last couple of years, cosmetic dentistry has become very important in dentistry, and for the same reason more and more people are undergoing procedures such as dental implantology or teeth whitening, also called dental bleaching, in order to achieve white and healthy teeth.
Contrary to popular views, the colour of the tooth is not determined by the outer surface of the tooth, which is virtually transparent, but by the colour of dentin of the tooth bone that lies right beneath the surface of the tooth. The enamel can absorb food and drink colours, which in a long-term, leads to the decolouration of teeth and the losing of their initial luminosity. Currently, there are a number of innovative techniques in the field of cosmetic dentistry that allow teeth whitening and sparkling.

Which are the reasons of teeth decolouration

  • Smoking,
  • Age,
  • Beverages like tea, coffee, and red wine,
  • Excessive exposure to fluorine during the development of teeth
  • The use of tetracycline (which is often used in drugs) in the early stage of life,
  • Devitalisation of teeth.

What is teeth whitening?

Teeth whitening is a treatment which helps in removing stains that appear every day on the tooth surface because of the foods that we consume every day. It is a cosmetic dental treatment that has eventually become quite popular because it significantly improves the appearance of teeth with a minimal effort and cost. It can be done by the family dentist and the duration of this procedure is 30-90 minutes depending on the used method and the active ingredient. The higher the concentration of the active ingredient, the shorter the duration of the treatment will be. During the surgery the patient must remain completely still and is free to watch TV.
