The dental X-ray (Orthopan) is a radiological examination, which is absolutely necessary when we want to undergo any dental procedure. The dental X-ray allows a broader picture of the dental structure, with possible observations of various pathologies that otherwise for the human eye would not be visible. In that way, the dental X-ray shows the dental arch, the jaw, the dental bone with which the quality of the dental bone can be evaluated, the problem of dental caries can be noted and in some cases even granulomas or inflammations, thereby reducing the risk of various complications.
Orthopantomography is based on the use of X-rays, and predicts a very short radiation period that is still not recommended for pregnant women.
Sometimes in implantology it is necessary to get a three-dimensional image of the jaw, with the aim of getting a more clearer picture of the patient`s problems. This is possible thanks to computed tomography (short CT). In our dental practice in Croatia, we have the most modern machines which allow us to perform a CT in a short time without the need for the patient to pass the so called CT-tunnel, but it can be done while standing, reducing discomfort to patients who suffer from claustrophobia.
